What is EMITR?
EMITR is a browser-based particle generator from BIG VISUAL CHILL. You shape hundreds of thousands of particles with sliders, see every change as you make it, and render the result as video. It runs on your graphics card through WebGPU, so there is nothing to download.
Is EMITR free?
Yes. The free version needs no signup and includes circle and cube particles, point and ring emitters, turbulence, noise and gravity. EMITR Pro is $8 a month or $75 a year with a 14-day free trial, and adds every particle shape, emitter and force, the camera and depth of field, video export and saved compositions.
Which browsers does EMITR work in?
Any browser with WebGPU: Chrome, Edge, Safari 17.4 or later, and Firefox with WebGPU turned on. It works best on a desktop or laptop.
What video can I export from EMITR?
Pro members can export MP4 (H.264) or ProRes 4444 at 720p, HD or 4K, and at 24, 30 or 60 fps. ProRes can keep a transparent background for layering over other footage. Renders can add motion blur, loop seamlessly, and run on our servers so you can close the tab while they finish.
Can I use EMITR visuals in live shows?
Yes. EMITR runs in real time, so you can put it full screen on a projector, LED wall or stream and play it live. Pro members can also share a composition with a link that opens in any WebGPU browser.
How does EMITR compare to Trapcode Particular, X-Particles and Houdini?
Those are complex, expensive tools. Trapcode Particular runs inside After Effects, X-Particles runs inside Cinema 4D, and Houdini is a full 3D package, and commercial work in any of them means paid software and time spent learning it. EMITR runs in your browser, starts free, and shows every change as you make it, so you can build a look in minutes and render it to 4K. For film-style simulations such as fluids, smoke and fire, those tools go further. For motion backgrounds, VJ loops, stream visuals and stylized particle effects, EMITR gets you there faster.
Can I use what I make commercially?
Yes. You keep the rights to what you create and export in EMITR, so you can use it in live sets, streams, videos and client work.
